Graduate school? Really? more liberal eduacation.... why the fuck not

1/23/2012 Sleeping....Not

It's raining. Who knew it could rain in January in Chicago.  Tonight I came across this in one of my art books:

"I stopped and leaned against the balustrade, almost dead with fatigue. above the blue-black fjord hung the clouds, red as blood and tongues of fire. my friends had left me, and alone, trembling with anguish, i become aware of the vast, infinite cry of nature"

I believe he may be talking about the waves....or existential anguish.  

I should be writing graduate essays or sleeping, instead, I'm looking up existentialism on wikipedia and trying to figure out what this painting has to do with freedom.  

  

 

 

It'a been a long time. I've been busy. Busy doing everything but writing. Not seeing music, not really going to see art. Instead I've been breathing, screaming, releasing. Changing. Transforming...

The Chicago Urban Art Society at 2229 S. Halsted has their opening reception (6pm - 11pm) of The Chicago Street Art Show this Friday. Calling attention to the history of street and graffiti art in Chicago, the show runs in their space until June 4th. Check it outttt....

The Underblog is the Chicago Undergroung Library's blog. If you haven't run into the CUL at various spaces and events in Chicago, make a date to visit them at one of their pop up libraries throughout the city.

5/8/2011 Frame It Up

I dropped off my Liz Born pieces with...Liz Born this weekend! She is going to frame both of her prints for me and I can't wait to see them. Can I afford to have them custom framed instead of thrifting for frames that happen to be the right size and look decent? eh, sure why not.  I feel it's essential to support your local and fellow artists. Go buy some art today!

5/3/2011 Upcoming Show with RAW

Every month RAW (an independent arts organization that showcases artists, photographers, fashion designers and models, performers, musicians, and filmmakers) throws a party at Vertigo Sky Lounge to exhibit the work of different creatives in Chicago. This month I'll be presenting a new series I've been working on.  The show is Thursday May 26th, 8pm-2am. Tickets are $10 and when purchasing a ticket you can select my name to show your support! My profile on RAW

I'm working on a blanket. Here's where I'm at on it:

 

Its a crane flying, fleeing, gliding, skimming, soaring, diving, dashing, swooping, and maybe hovering a bit, I'm not sure what it's doing exactly yet.

4/29/2011 Art Chicago 2011

Beginning today and continuing through the weekend, Chicago hosts the annual international fair for contemporary and modern art. Bringing together artists, curators, galleries, and art enthusiasts at the Merchandise Mart (222 Merchandise Mart Plaza) the fair will hopefully provide some inspiration and insight into the current artistic movements around the world.  I'll be milling around all day tomorrow until my retinas can't take anymore visual stimuli and my mind can't take anymore verbose intellectualism of why concept now trumps beauty and I'll puke if I don't leave. See you all there!
